USS George Washington (CVN 73) 2008 Fire Investigation Report

The is the FOIA-released redacted Navy investigation report for the major fire on USS George Washington (CVN 73) on May 22, 2008. The fire started in unmanned Auxiliary Boiler Exhaust and Supply space. The fire took 12 hours to put out. 37 sailors had minor injuries. 1 sailor had 2nd degree burns. Approximately 80 out of over 3,800 total spaces aboard the carrier were damaged by the fire including Reactor and Engineering Training Office and Lecture Room #2.
