This is Rickover's speech on THE DECLINE OF THE INDIVIDUAL on the occasion of the

Golden Anniversary Celebration at Longview, Washington June 30, 1973.


Rickover discusses aspects concerning his view that over the years, however, and especially since the coming of the Industrial and later the Scientific Revolution, radical changes have occurred in our way

of life, some of them inimical to the free individual in whom our society is grounded.
