Prepared by Bettis in 1986, this report documents the successful operation of the LWBR Core at the Shippingport Atomic Power Station. Significant nuclear aspects are discussed. These include: plant operating experience (highlights, incidents, maintenance, system and component performance, electrical and mechanical system experience and modifications); reactor and reactor plant experience (accumulative reactor physics performance and thermal and hydraulic experience); operational chemistry and radiation control experience; and waste processing. The operations and experience associated with defueling of the former PWR Core 2, installation of LWBR and defueling of LWBR are also presented.
