On 4/3/2023, prior Director of the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program from 2012-2015, Adm. John Richardson (ret.), Adm. Hyman G. Rickover upon the 75th Anniversary of Naval Reactors.

Transcript:

So what would a Rickover think of the program if he were alive today ? And he was sitting in this chair instead of me , I think uh you know , a Rickover , it's clear and history is taught that he had uh the people of our program just at the very front and center of everything that he did . And so he built the program and the principles of the program such that uh even as we are maturing this incredible technology , harnessing this incredible power we're gonna do so in a way that keeps our operator at the center of all that in terms of operating and certainly keeping them safe . And I think that a recover would be really happy to know that we continue to do that today . Uh I think also that uh he would be astounded at the world around us right now . And uh because he was uh sort of a always a student , always a lifetime learner , he would just be fascinated and excited about what all of these techno technologies portend for our future . And he would be diving in , rolling up his sleeves as he always did and pushing his team to uh adapt and uh explore those technologies , push the possible so that uh we could keep the program uh on cutting edge uh going forward for the next 75 years .
