1968 Rickover Testimony on Advanced Design Submarines

In this Rickover testimony before the Joint Committee on Atomic Energy on June 21, 1968 and July 25, 1968. On June 21, 1968, Rickover describes efforts to get a turbo-electric drive submarine authorized and lays out efforts for a high speed attack submarine (would become 688).

Between June 21, 1968 and the second testimony on July 25, 1968, the Defense Department and Navy both committed to the High Speed attack submarine designating it SSN 688.
