Ticket Type: Historical Input

Submitter: Bryan Barnes

As a surviving member of USS SAN FRANCISCO (SSN-711) underwater collision, on Jan 08, 2005, I'd like to share some resources and a compilation of information that I've gathered over the years. id like to submit it before I retire from NR.... eventually, but as for now I just put on 0-4 and have at least 3 more years in the program.... maybe more. The Standard, shipbuilding, and legacy of the San Francisco should not be forgotten, it is especially meaningful to remember the non-nuke Mechanic (A-gang) MM2 (SS) Ashley, Joseph A., who gave his life onboard that fateful day we hit the uncharted mountain at 525ft going Ahead Flank. This may or may not meet the intent of this websites history, but the Engineering, Standards, and Submarine excellence, Rickover Principles, are the reason im still serving today.
